The buckeyes have a strong legacy in the Olympic games. They have sent over 200 athletes and have earned a combined 106 medals. We have 47 gold, 37 silver, and 22 bronze! The most notable athlete was Jesse Owens who competed in the 1936 games. During the games in Berlin, Germany he brought home 4 gold medals. He dominated the 100 and 200 meters, Ocala Animal Control, long jump, and 4 x 100 relay. He is recognized as the greatest athlete in track and field history. The 2018 winter Olympics begin February 9th in PyeongChang, South Korea. We will have to wait until then to see if another Buckeye rises to challenge his legacy and add to the overall medal count.
